About Me

CherylMy name is Cheryl Owens Patterson. I am a wife, mother, sister, employee, friend, parishioner and Stage 4 cancer patient. I told my very personal story at the encouragement (some would say insistence) of those who love me in the hope that my life and journey will be a source of encouragement for the countless women, families and friends who daily fight this battle. I reside in New Jersey with my husband and my dog, and I have two grown sons.

While I continue to fight this battle, I have chosen to live life to the fullest. I overcame my fear of water, at the age of 44, by learning how to swim and now it is part of my weekly routine. I overcame my fear of heights and jumped out of a plane, also at the age of 44, just because I could. It was amazingly fun! Last year I went to Italy with my three best friends and had a blast. Check out my blog for photos.

My husband, Kim, and I have been married 28 years! (Yes, I was a child bride!) As you will read in the book, I could not have faced this physical battle without him. He's my rock.

Our greatest joys in life are our two sons, Nathan and Ben. They have been and continue to be a great source of strength, encouragement, and love in this journey.

My dog, Bailey, what can I say? He's perfect.

My Miata, my toy. Every adult should still have a toy they enjoy. Why do we grow up and think we have to grow out of our toys anyway? Nothing like putting the top down, blaring the music, and riding through the country on a beautiful day. Do you think I can take this with me when I go to heaven?

My friends. My life is full of them. I am so blessed. I can't list them all, there are far too many. Friends I've had for a lifetime, and those I haven't yet met. They fill my life like presents on my birthday, which is February 21 if you want to send a card…snicker. I have friends around the globe who have prayed for me regularly, how can I ever thank you all enough?

Please feel free to contact me, add a comment or at least let me know what you are facing. No guarantees that I'll respond to everyone, but I'll do my best. Thanks for visiting!
